20 cartons of 60 × 40 × 40 cm, 12 kg each:

Volume: 0.096 CBM × 20 = 1.92 CBM
Luftfracht: Volume weight 16 kg per carton is more than 12 kg, so 16 × 20 = 320 kg billed
Express: 19.2 kg per carton × 20 = 384 kg billed
Sea LCL: 1.92 CBM is more than 0.24 t, so 1.92 CBM billed

Cargo weight is usually limited to about 25–26 t per container, and lower on some roads at the destination.

Questions

What is CBM?

Cubic metres: length × width × height of the carton in cm, divided by 1,000,000. A 60 × 40 × 40 cm carton is 0.096 CBM.

What is chargeable weight?

The weight you are billed for by air and express: the actual weight or the volume weight, whichever is higher. Light, bulky cartons are billed on size.

When is a full container cheaper than LCL?

It depends on the route. Below about 13 CBM, sharing a container is normally cheaper. Between about 13 and 28 CBM we quote both so you can compare.

Is the result exact?

Volume and chargeable weight are exact for the sizes you enter. Container fill is a guide, because cartons never use every corner. We confirm everything in the quote.

How is the freight cost estimated?

The calculator multiplies your chargeable weight or volume by our current rate range for the destination you choose: per kg for air and express, per CBM for LCL and per container for FCL. It covers the main freight from South China only. Duties, taxes, local charges and final delivery are not included.

Why is my quote different from the estimate?

Freight rates change every week, and the final price depends on the exact route, the cargo, the delivery address and the services you need. Send us your packing list and we reply with an itemised quote within 2 hours.
