What applies when goods from China are cleared in mainland Spain.

EORI number

Needed to import into the EU. Spanish EORI numbers are issued by the tax agency, and any EU EORI works.

Import VAT (IVA)

The standard rate is 21%, with lower rates for some goods. Businesses that file monthly VAT returns can opt to defer import VAT to the return.

Customs duty

Set by the EU tariff and the product’s commodity code.

Packaging register

Businesses that place packaged products on the Spanish market must register as packaging producers and join a compliance scheme.
